Squaring the compliance circle

The most significant challenge with compliance training is lack of learner engagement.

For most learners, the subject matter is perceived as ‘dry’ and the annual refresher is considered to be a tick-box exercise; something we just have to do. Therefore, the objective for most learners is to get through it as quickly as they possibly can, answer a few relatively simple or obvious questions, and then get on with some ‘real’ work. Unfortunately, most compliance e-learning is so poorly designed that it allows this to happen.

Being relatively new to the world of e-learning, it’s easy to get lost in the jargon used daily to discuss, explain and understand the various elements that contribute to and surround the phenomenon that is e-learning. I quickly came to realise this when acronyms like LMS and API were being fired around along with phrases like “learning culture”, “immersive learning” and “blended solutions”.

The importance of Quality Assurance

When I talk about my job people ask me “What do you spend most of your time doing if all you do is check the final product?” It’s difficult to summarise Quality Assurance in a single sentence but if I were to try I would summarise it as “The procedure of ensuring quality throughout and helping to deliver a fit-for-purpose product or service”.
