You may have heard the term ‘FinTech’ flying around, but what actually is it? Financial Technologies, also known as FinTech, are computer programs and other technologies used to support or enable banking and financial services . The Finance Global Summit, held in London, provides a space for innovators, institutions, investors, regulators, policymakers and startups to come together and discuss the progress and direction of financial technology.
1Since 1975 the United Nations has been celebrating International Women’s Day on 8 March. It was first marked in the US on 28 February 1909 in honour of the garment worker’s strike in New York where women protested against their working conditions. This year’s theme is: rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives #PressforProgress. This is to celebrate social, cultural, economic and political successes of women globally - and especially this year - to promote an improvement in the livelihoods and wellbeing of rural women, who 2make up over a quarter of the world’s population, but still fare worse off than rural men and urban women. Less than 20% of landholders worldwide are women.
When I was younger it never occurred to me that certain paths may or may not be available to me as an individual because of what I look like. I was very fortunate to grow up in a household where my mum made it very clear that I could do, and be whatever I wanted to and because of her unwavering support and belief in me I never doubted it.
Investment v ROI is a business-wide discussion point and is often the backbone in measuring success in any business. Why is this not always the case for learning? We’d like to think it was, but as designers, managers and stakeholders, are we always sure that the money invested in training is invested in the right way to yield greater results in learning?
